Camp Courageous Chalk Bag

Here is  your chance to sponsor a rad kid!

Two decades ago, I shipped my first box of donation chalk bags to Charlie at Camp Courageous in Monticello, IA to support his mission to help all kids with disabilities experience the joy of outdoor adventure.  Every few years, I box up a few huge cases and ship them out for the summer campers.  This year I want to get even more people involved and hook up even more kids and I need your help!

For roughly 20 years we have been partnering with Camp Courageous to provide rad kids with rad chalk bags. I want to celebrate the 20th year with something really special and I need your help!

In 2019, I will pledge 200 chalk bags to the Camp Courageous crew. You can help me take this 1 step further and sponsor even more campers.  Let's see how many kids we can sponsor in 2019 together!

Here is the deal - I will mail you a custom, limited edition chalk bag. With the purchase of your bag, I will send an additional, custom bag (above and beyond my 200 bag pledge) to Camp Courageous.  Your bag will arrive before Memorial Day weekend which happens to be my birthday and also the official start of summer.  On the same weekend, hundreds of chalk bags will arrive at Camp Courageous in Iowa for the summer season.

Camp Courageous Mission Statement

"All people, regardless of ability level, have the right to opportunities found in the world around them. Individuals with disabilities, as well as their families, should experience year-round recreational and respite care activities in a camp setting. Camp Courageous of Iowa provides this needed service to all. The camp provides opportunities for social and personal growth within a supportive environment. Campers learn to try a variety of creative and challenging activities and experience success. Campers develop enhanced self-esteem which carries over to work, home, or school environments."

Camp Courageous was founded in 1972 when forty acres of land was donated for the sole purpose of establishing a camp for those with special needs. In 1973 five buildings were built from donated labor and materials. By 1974 the camp was ready for its first campers, which totaled 211. Today the camp is open year-round and has over 200 acres of land with over 25 buildings. Annually, Camp Courageous serves thousands of individuals with disabilities ranging in age from 1 to 105.
